Max's Market on Queensway
My husband and I love Max's Market that is in Bloor West Village, and saw they are opening one on Queensway which is much closer for us, but everytime we go by it, it still says coming soon, does anyone know when its going to be opening?

This is an old thread, but, just to "close" it off for good, the Queensway location has now closed. I don't know how long it has been closed for but I was in the area today and I called the store with no answer. Called the Bloor location and they told me it was closed. I have to say I am not that surprised. I had only been there like 3 or 4 times but each of those times there were hardly any other customers there. Maybe the store location didn't make it very inviting? Or maybe it just didn't attract people...

I stopped by today as I was passing by the area. This was my first time in a Max Store. Overall, I found it an interested shopping experience. There is a LOT of prepared foods... seems like a good spot to stop by to pick up some stuff for a quick meal if you don't feel like cooking. Some of the deli meats look interesting too (some are made in-house or for them) but I didn't buy any (wasn't able to keep anything I bought cool for long as I was heading out).
Other things I noticed. They seemed to have a pretty decent selection of cheese. I am not familiar enough with pricing to know how good the prices were but a bunch of stuff there that I would be interested in trying.
I tried the crab rosti and the mushroom risotto cake, I liked them both. I also got an order of the butter chicken which was decent for the price ($4 lunch special) but could have used more chicken vs. rice.
Now, just a word of warning while they get things settled in. The girl behind the counter mislabeled my rosti and ended up putting on a $15.99 item instead! It was weird because she brought it over to the counter where you pay without even telling me first that is what she was doing (not sure why she didn't hand it over the counter??) and then later after she was heading back she told me she left it at the cash. So, I didn't see the sticker on it with the dollar amount and it was just after I reviewed the receipt on the way to the car that I noticed the error. When I went back in the store they corrected the error immediately. Regardless, keep an eye out just in case :)
Overall, I found some interesting products there that I hadn't seen elsewhere. Nothing specific but just random things like different kinds of chocolate/etc. I would probably drop back in if I was in the area again.

Hello everyone,
First off thank you for your enthusiasm and support throughout the years. We appreciate your excitement about our next location and are equally frustrated at not having opened as yet.
The reason that this has taken so long is the overwhelming amount of red tape, specifically compliance standards for businesses and especially food businesses have hugely multiplied from the early 80's when we began.
That said, the end is in sight, and we HOPE to be open in about a months time. (mid June) But that is a soft date, it could be sooner, or possibly later.
We appreciate your comments, suggestions, and criticisms, and are looking forward to continuing to serve you all.

Has anyone gone past Max's on the Queensway lately? My husband just called me to tell me that he saw a sign on the highway for Maxs, and I was wondering if anyone knew if it was open yet

re: Tara1748
Yes, they put up that sign about 3-4 months back, although are still not open. Hopefully no one gets off the highway for that. They are in there doing work such as settign up shelves and the lights are on every day now, although still not yet open. Looks like it will be soon though. Once I see it open, I'll try to remember to post.

I just called the Max's Market in BWV and they said they are not sure of the opening date, although hope it to be in teh next few months. She stated tehy are also renovting the BWV store and that is what is causing the delay. I drive by every day and there has been zero movement in the Queensway location since March 2010.
