TONIGHT! Dinner before 8pm show @ Orpheum Theater

mcarr Nov 1, 2010 10:41 AM

Hi all-
Last minute I know...looking for recommendation for dinner near the Orpheum Theater tonight.

We are seeing comedy show @ 8pm and want to grab a bite to eat before, something more than sandwiches (seems to be a lot of places like that nearby). Two women...we love all kinds of cuisine.

We also are driving into the city and will have a car that we only want to park once. Thanks for your help, Melissa

The last couple of time we went to the theatre district we went to Pho Pasteur and got delicious food, quick and cheap, and though not fancy it is a great people-watching place. It's not right in the district but it's not a bad walk to the Orpheum and you could probably find a parking garage somewhere in the middle.

love all the ideas! Just checked Silvertone's site and they are open Mondays, only close on Monday holidays, so I think we'll try there ;-)

Love the fried calamari at Silvertone's and also their goat cheese crostini.

      Very close:
Fancy: Bar at No. 9 Park.
Less Fancy: Silvertone. (Typically a bit busy before Orpheum shows)
In between: The Marliave (although I prefer the previous two options much more).
Decent but not spectacular sushi: Zen on Beacon St. (I like the yaki udon).
The bar at Moo for meat-related things.

      On the Gov't Center Side:
Woodwards. (I like the duck/cranberry flatbread)

Around the Boston Common Side (parking under the common is typically pretty cheap), in order of distance from the Orpheum:
Stoddards (decent burger, great charcuterie, great beer, terrible service)
      Teatro
      Troquet
      Bistro du Midi
Via Matta (I like eating at the bar and getting half portions of the pastas).

anything more mid-range? Locke and #9 are a bit out of budget for the evening ;-)

Marliave has a daily $1 oyster special from 4-6 pm - so you could get some bivalves there before 6pm, then an app or two if you are still hungry. That is, if oysters are your thing.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Silvertone might be closed on Mondays?
