where to get crispy duck with taro in Chinatown?

Hi all,
one of my boyfriend favorite dish is crispy duck with taro.

It's basically duck that has been cooked and deboned, cut into rectangles, coated with taro paste, and deep-fried until crispy.

His favorite place was at the restaurant where bubor cha cha is today. I've never had this kind of duck
so I was wondering if you have.

This dish is often called 荔茸香酥鴨 (li4 rong2 xiang1 su1 ya1 in Mandarin) and can also be had at Joyful Garden in the Days Hotel in Brighton (it's not on the English menu, but they have it!)

most cantonese-style restaurants in chinatown have this...china pearl, pearl villa, peach farm, even places in quincy.

the key is finding a place that does the taro well...the sauce is almost always the same.

I like this too though it's extremely fattening :-)

Yeah, this was a favourite when I was a child...too bad I don't have that metabolism anymore.

Another favourite was the taro and something else (probably duck again) in some kind of creamy sauce in a hot pot. My sister and I would fight over the dregs to put on rice. Wish I could remember what it was called, or even what was in it exactly. I just know we fought over the taro chunks and the sauce.

I've had something like this at Peach Farm. The duck slices were not completely covered in taro paste, but the preparation was similar and very tasty!
