Sheva Brachot Catering in 5 towns area

I was thinking of using Carlos and Gabby's for a sheva brachot for ~30 people. Anyone have any experience with them or recommend (or recommend against) anyplace else?

  1. @ Carlos and Gabby's or you're doing this @ home with Carlos & Gabby's food?

at home with C&G food. Does that matter?

        I just couldn't see having a sheva brochas @ C&G , I don't think there'd be much privacy.

It could matter... if you're having the food delivered it may not be hot when it arrives.
If the food comes wrapped up, you may not get exactly what you asked for.. and you can't send it back.
Some places charge different prices to cater a party off side (preparing just the food) and to have a party in the restaurant (food, waitstaff, dishes...)

Seems to me that if you are ordering a big order, it's more likely to be right since you would probably be going in and making a special order, rather than just be calling up for a standard delivery. I have no experience with C & G in the 5 Towns, though, so I don't know their reputation. And here in Queens, I just go in to eat; never have had a delivery from there.

I know that they do Super Bowl parties, so they probably have the capacity to "cater" for large groups. I would assume you'd be ordering the kind of food you order in bulk (tray of wings, for ex.), and not 30 specific individual orders, so you'd probably want to serve right away or have a way to keep stuff warm, like chafing dishes, but I wouldn't think that the issues raised by Cheesecake17 would be as big as she thinks.

      2. My shul has used them for events (one that I was present for with far more than 30 people) and everything was great.

        1. My family used them to cater an in-home party for over 100 ppl. The food was absolutely amazing and delicious- so good that they had to deliver more in the middle of the party (not their fault). Even stuff like the egg rolls, which you would think wouldn't taste good unless straight out of the fryer, were fantastic. They also sent some servers to set up, serve and cleanup.

Thanks for all of the responses. I think I'm going to go with them. especially since it seems reasonably priced.
