Kind of a Tastespotting way to search Allrecipes.com

Bryan Pepperseed Nov 1, 2010 08:08 AM

I may be the last to know about this, but after a brief trial run I'm thinking some might find this site useful.

    Interesting!

Way cool. That's for one of those days when you don't know what you feel like making until you see a picture of it.
Thanks - I'd never seen it before, either.

I wish this was in alpha order or main food ingredient order and not a ratings order. I find the pics too small on the main page before it switches to the main site. I like the concept but it needs alot of work (imho).

I agree, the sorting options are currently a little limited.
Since their eBay search page has more options for sorting search results, perhaps the allrecipes page is still a work in progress.
As for the pics, the slider bar just below the "menu" section will enlarge the pics when moved to the right.

For some odd reason, the sizing bar won't move for me. Strange. Needs work!
Why sites go live before all kinks are worked out is beyond me.

It works for me if I put the mouse pointer over the blue dot and drag the dot while holding down the left mouse button.

Nope, tried all sorts of combos to move it, won't budge.
I wrote to the site about it.

Do you have some kind of script blocking enabled in your browser? I use the NoScript extension in Firefox, and unless I allow scripts from PicClick.com, the slider doesn't work - I just get the "no symbol" (circle with a backslash through it) where ever I try to move the slider.
If that's not it, hope the site replies to you with an answer because you're right about the default picture size being too small. Good luck.

Thanks but no, I don't have any blocking enabled and the 2nd visit to the page I double-checked my settings. The site should know certain browsers will have issue anyway. And I'm hoping site improvements will continue with the new search. BP, thank you for sharing it.
