Where to find membrillo (quince paste) in Connecticut?

  • 7

I have tried usual suspects:

- Whole Foods (Orange, CT)
- Balducci's (Westport, CT)

and have not found anything. I have not tried the Darien Cheese Shop but I have never seen it there before on previous visits.

Any suggestions beside ordering online or going in NYC?

thanks

  1. I have seen it at Fairfield Cheese Company (in Fairfield). Great shop. Call to make sure they still have it - sometimes their selections rotate

    1. Where is your base of operations?
In New Haven I buy mine at the grocery store (can't remember the name, senior moment) in Fairhaven at the corner of Grand Ave. and Ferry St. But most Spanish grocery's will will have it.
It will also be a lot cheaper than Balducci's or Whole foods.

The name of the store in Fairhaven is C-Town.

      2. Weird...I just saw it at Balducci's in Westport last week...

          I live in Trumbull

I found it at Mirabelle Cheese Shop in Westport -- its great!

@sibeats -- Balducci's had it when they where doing their Spanish Food week but once it was gone, it was gone and the person I talked to said they would not have it anymore. As a matter of fact, they seem to be a lot more generic these days.

          1. I've found it in Fromage in Old Saybrook and the Shop Rite in New London/Waterford (on 95).
