Hot Spot Lounge/Dinner Spot - Atmosphere is key!

Hi...

I'm looking for a hip lounge restaurant for a group of 8 where we can have dinner and then join in for cocktails after dinner.... I love the food/atmosphere of Spice Route Nyood and Kultura but would like to try somewhere else... Any ideas?

I can't seem to get a reservation at the popular recommendations... Any smaller places that might have a bustling vibe/interesting decor and still good food? Would be great if there was a good lounge/bar close by for after dinner drinks? Thoughts?

... ah, this Saturday?! It's a bit late for a big group at any popular resto imo...

Bohmer? They have this lounge-ish nook that I thought really cool. Less a bar, though you can hop down to Reposado or one of the multitude of other watering holes up and down Ossington if you wish. The room looks like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jlunar/4...

but you can't see the nook and I didn't shoot it Low, whole tree trunk type table and banquette-type seating, if I recall correctly. But it's off to the right-side past where the woman is at the terminal. Pretty cool looking. Don't know about reservations.

Ame has just started special nights on Thurs, Friday, Sat. Ink runs those night as they do the those at Spice Route and Ultra. You might want to check it out if you like Japanese.

I was actually thinking Watusi. Has anyone been on a Saturday night? How is the food and the cocktail crowd afterwards?

I've been to Watusi. It is a local kinda of place. The space is ok but the food I've tried (maybe four dishes) has not been very good. To me it is a drinks only kind of place and that's the vibe to me as well.

i would say bohmer on ossington is what you're looking for.
not on ossington, but i would include pravda in your list.

I would not agree that Boehmer is a 'hip lounge restaurant' at all. It's a nice space and the food items range from okay to great, but the clientele is definitely not that young (stems from the price level) and there is no lounge aspect whatsoever.

Pravda sounds more in line with the poster's request, but I haven't heard of anyone eating there - like Spice Route, it has a just-for-drinks reputation. The other suggestions of Origin or the Drake sound reasonable to me. On Ossington, Watusi or something might be a better fit.
