Emerald Indian Restaurant at Woodbine & Danforth - Anyone been?
It's a new little place, on the south side of Danforth, west of Woodbine. I have only driven past, and the inside looks clean and cute. Am planning to give it a try soon, but was wondering if anyone else has been.
Here is a blog post about it:

Does anyone know if this is still functioning? My wife and I went twice and the owner seemed liek a nice guy with a charismatic character, he mentioned certain problems with the building owner, etc. and then a couple of times we went by there it seemed closed. Shame because the guy made fantastic food.

The DECA post is accurate to me.
Modest room, good service that tries hard, doesn't quite have everything in place yet being as new as it is in a sub-optimal space neglected by former tenants and the landlord. Will have to check back and see.
Someone wrote the food is home-made. Agreed that the flavours and textures (had their version of Tikka Masala) are nothing that couldn't be put together in a home kitchen. But it's still early to tell what the place can put out so will have to return. Yes, everything tasted fresh but from what I'm used to at Indian/Pakistani restaurants I was expecting more...distinctiveness. Maybe they were adjusting for this non-South Asian.

re: neighborguy
I went tonight and took home naan, chicken tikka masala, aloo palaak and chicken biryani.
The order took about 45 minutes to make despite there only being 2 people in the restaurant and one take-out order, but they did give me some channa masala to snack on while I waited. The food shows promise but I think the menu needs a bit more focus (donairs, french fries and wok beef?) and a bit more finesse. It was certainly freshly prepared, though. The owner was lovely and service was great.

Does anyone have the phone number for this restaurant please? We are hoping to go there for lunch tomorrow Monday and want to make sure it is open, and if we can, to order in advance.

That's right, the menu is Pakistani food. I'm not sure why a chef from Goa would be mainly serving that when Goan food is quite unique and also hard to find in Toronto, which is not the case with what they offer.
I was excited to hear there was an Indian restaurant there but I'm not interested in that style of food.If you are wondering what sort of Indian restaurant I'd like to see here, it's one offering many of the items this place does, which is in the town I am from. I ate there a few times when I visited last.
