Restaurants near Fairmont Hotel

We're coming in for the rally and staying at the Fairmont Hotel at 24th and M this weekend and would like to have dinner Friday and Saturday evenings. As a general principal, we don't eat in hotel dining rooms unless there is a good reason. Probably close to the hotel as we're 68, and so it doesn't have to be trendy. Walking 6 blocks or so shouldn't be a problem. I'd love some suggestions.

Walk 3 blocks into Georgetown and try La Chaumiere. Cozy, old-school French dining with moderate prices. Excellent food.

Look into RIS, its a couple of blocks from your hotel at 22nd & L. They have various seating areas so you can be in the center of it or off in a quieter area. Search the board for recs.

Also West End and Blue Duck are both near your hotel.

If you like indian, Taj of India is 4 blocks away in Georgetown.

On P street, there is Pizza Paradiso.

I would check opentable though to see what's available. You can search by neighborhood (put in Foggy Bottom, Georgetown and Dupont).

search this board using the keywords of Foggy Bottom, West End, GWU among others and you'll get a lot of hits, there were a lot of parents dropping their kids off at the GW dorms looking for advice at the end of summer, that's right by where you'll be.
