A short report on our once night at a farm in Provence

Hello French chowhounds,
We recently returned from 2 weeks in France: 4 nights in Lyon, 1 night in Châteauneuf de Gadagne, and a week in Nice. I really scoured the board for tips before I left, and thanks to you all we had some fabulous meals! I plan to report back on Nice and Lyon, but while I have a few minutes I wanted to write about our one night on the farm.
I had posted here asking if anyone could recommend a ferme-auberge, as my husband raises chickens and has a garden, so I knew that he would love to stay on a working farm before taking his ciity-mouse wife to Nice, I got some recommendations here, but went out on a limb and booked a room at Le Mas Des Vertes Rives:http://www.mas-des-vertes-rives.com/A...
that I had found on some French website.
The room was really basic but clean, and the owners, Caroline and Vincent, were super nice.
We had dinner together st a big table with the other guests, and everything was either grown or raised in or near the farm. Unfortunately we just missed the special goose dinner (the tour of the goose), which everyone said was fabulous, We had pork, which was ok...not great, but very home-style, and everything else was so good that I feel like I can recommend it overall. They make their own jams and flavors for the complimentary aperatifs, The salad entree was fresh and full of really yummy bacon, the bread and veggies were really good, the cheese was to die for and the pumpkin flan for dessert was really good too. Not starred cuisine at all, but for what it was - home cooked fresh food - it was well-worth it, and some things were really good. So, overall I'd say that we were happy with our choice, and if you can go when they have one of their special meals, do it. Thanks for your input and I''ll report on Nice and Lyon soon!
