All-day breakfast near a metro stop?

pri430 Oct 27, 2010 05:11 PM

Hey all,
I'm meeting someone for lunch this weekend, and I need to find a diner that serves breakfast all-day. My friend is coming from Metro Center, so something on the red/orange/blue lines would be great, and near a metro stop so he doesn't have to do a lot of walking around a new city. Tips?

Well, the Colbert/Stewart rallies are this weekend, so beware of that.

I'm not the biggest breakfast brunch person, but there are threads on those. Orange and I believe Blue lines take you to Pentagon City which has a very convenient bus (OMG - I said Bus) down Columbia Pike to Bob and Ediths which is definite classic diner fare.

Try Luna Grill on Connecticut south of Dupont Circle. It's near red and blue/orange lines.

Open City or the Diner would work. You can get off at Woodley Park for both. The Diner is a bit more of a walk but I personally like it better.

Diner with all-day breakfast? Waffle Shop, across from Ford's Theater and a block from Metro Center 11th Street exit:. If you look it up and see it listed as closed, don't pay attention. They just moved a few doors down from the original spot:

they merged with that other place, what, the LIncoln House cafe or something? (it's right next to the house where Lincoln died)

I'm pretty sure the Silver Diner has breakfast all day. I'm a fan of their eggs benedict (big, homemade english muffins), and they seemed to have revamped the menu a bit and have started annotating their local ingredients. It's by the Clarendon metro on the orange line.

I think there's also still an IHOP by the Ballston metro.

I second Silver Diner. It's only about two blocks from the Clarendon metro, definitely serves breakfast all day, and has a nice choice to offer (had the sweet potato and cranberry pancakes and the crab cakes benedict there. yum). It's also not expensive.
Plus, since it's in Arlington, you might be able to avoid some of the Stewart/Colbert rallygoers.

The Silver Diner is passable and meets the criterion of being near a metro stop (White Flint).

However, I think the food (and especially the coffee) are subpar.

That being said, I have no better suggestions...I'm just warning the OP not to expect great food.

Second the sub-par quality of the food and coffee at Silver Diner, particularly their "heart smart" meals.

Both the Tune Inn and Ted's Bulletin offer all-day breakfast near the Capitol South and Eastern Market Metros, respectively.

I thought I'd read somewhere that Ted's Bulletin started out serving breakfast all day but cut that back after a few weeks of operation. (??) I'm not sure about this though; a phone call would clear this up.

What about the Original Pancake House in Bethesda? It's very close to the metro
