Alex -- website menus ?? Are they up to date?
Planning my dinners and Alex was a favorite last trip. Has anyone been lately?? Is the menu different than the one listed online. It seems the online menu has a lot of summer seasonal items on it -- just wondering if they changed things up for fall.
Any standouts lately?? My husband loves duck, so I"m hoping it's on for him. But I have to say, none of the entrees are calling my name.

Thanks for all the input. I thought about calling. Our reservation is for the evening we get in, and I was wanting to check the Taste of Wynn vs the regular Prix Fixe options, which dictates our dining times. I think I'm leaning toward the regular menu at this point anyway, so I might go ahead and push our reservation later.

re: Scott M
I did email the Wynn and they sent back the current menu that is posted online, even the Farmer's Market menu is the same. I'm thinking it might not be accurate based on the comment above that said the menu they had was different than the online menu in August. They did however, include the Vegetarian Menu, which I have not seen anywhere before:
VEGETABLE MENU
Marinated Heirloom Tomato Salad with Sliced Cucumbers, Tomato
Granite and Tomme CrayeuseCrudités of Summer Vegetables with Zucchini Pistou, Lemon
Vinaigrette and Squash BlossomsLinguini with Sweet Corn and Pepper Relish, Vadouvan Curry and
Roasted Sweet TomatoesRoasted Baby Eggplant with Piperade, Butterball Potato Puree and
Fresh CalamansiWarm Brown Butter Peaches with Almond and Sour Cream Ice Cream
3 Courses $80
5 Courses $110-----

I've dined at Alex 4 times in the past 3 years, and none of the actual menus matched the online menu at the time. While I might have been somewhat disappointed for the moment since I like to plan my meals, I have to admit, that I've always found lots to love about the actual menu. I hope you can be flexible and enjoy the current menu since there is always great variety. Also, if there is something that you would prefer on the a la carte menu if you're ordering the tasting menu (or vice versa), the staff is always very accomodating to make changes. When I had dinner at Alex in April, my sister and I ordered the tasting menu, but there was only a foie gras torchon on the tasting menu; the a la carte menu had a hot preparation of foie gras that we knew we would prefer. Our captain had no problem switching the foie gras preparations. Based on my previous visits, I am positive you will love your dinner at Alex.

Dined at Alex August 25 and they gave us a copy of the actual menu. Comparing that one (late August) to what's up on the web now (dated 7/2010) the Farmer's Market Menu was totally different except for the sweetbreads, the Prix Fixe menu was almost identical for the first two courses but for the desserts two were the same and two were changed (my wife really wanted that coconut crepe ...).
Tasting menu is identical.
For the Farmer's Market menu they replaced the tuna carpaccio with halibut, the roasted porcelet was replaced with 'rabbit three ways', and the dessert was also new.
This was 2 months ago so it's likely there are some other seasonal changes (fresh truffles at outrageous seem to be the rage at Robuchon and Guy Savoy, for example).

I too am planning to go, and notice that the date of the menu is stamped on the lower right of the last page of the menu on the website. It shows the date of 07/2010. So it may still be the current menu which hasn't changed since July or it has not been updated online. I have noticed the Taste of Wynn Alex menu is dated 9/30/2010 and has some of the same offerings as the regular 07/2010 menu. So unless it changed in the last month and hasn't posted to the web, it looks like the menu has not changed since 07/2010.
