Restaurant for dinner near Academy of Music

We're going to see "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" tomorrow night and looking for a pre-theater meal? I'll take any recommendations....

we ate the pre-theater menu at Estia - it was great.

mercato and garces trading company are just a couple blocks east. plus, i think mercato takes pre-theater reservations on weeknights!

They do. Kanella is my favorite place in that area, it's a little further walk vs. Mercato or Estia but still pretty close by.

I like Amis on 13th between Pine and Lombard. It's close by and tasty!

Also, if you iike Japanese food, Shiroi Hana on 15th Street is a good choice - attractive, good food and service. It's between Walnut and Locust, very close.

For hamburgers, etc. go to Good Dog on 15th Street - really good.

A couple blocks further, on 17th Street, is Branzino - an excellent Italian byob.

In the immediate vicinity of the A of M, is Estia, (Greek/Mediterranean) that offers an excellent prix-fixe pre-theatre dinner menu; Sotto/Upstares at Varalli (Italian); Fado Irish Pub (basic comfort irish pub food). For more upscale, nearby is Le Bec Fin.

I second Estia. It's right across Locust St. from the Academy of Music and they have the freshest fish and the best octopus to come out of a washing machine (seriously!)...
