Good food/drinks near Sunset and Fairfax

  • 20
  • Share

Looking to take a friend out for food/drinks before a movie at the DGA on Sunset and Fairfax. Would love something within walking distance but I can't seem to think of anything around there that is decent? Happy hours are great. Any cuisine. Don't want to spend more than $35 a person. Please tell me there's someplace I'm forgetting. Thanks.

  1. There is The Counter, for good custom made burgers, brew and fried pickles directly across the street from the DGA.

See, I knew I forgot something. That could definitely work. I've only been to the one in SaMo but I'm sure this one is good too. Thanks!

    2. you're not very far from the Golden State for what I think is a superior burger to the Counter and some excellent beer, but not really within walking distance.

        I agree.

Definitely go to Golden State over the Counter...

        2. Greenblatt's is two blocks west of the DGA, and has excellent pastrami and corned beef. Their reuben is arguably better than Langer's #44.

They have a good turkey club too.

Was not impressed by The Counter, neither the burger nor the service. Definitely not worth the price.

The nice thing about Greenblatt's is that they have a very nice wine selection. I belong to the DGA and go to a lot of screenings there. I almost always go to Greenblatt's before or after. I can have a nice glass of wine, and a half sandwich. And there's easy parking in the back.

              2. Lola's? great drinks and atmosphere..

Second Pinches Tacos. Decent tacos (yes, expensive by ELA standards, but this isn't ELA) and entertaining people watching. Only four blocks to the west of the DGA.

Not sure alcohol is an option at that Pinches Tacos.

You're correct - but I have brought in beers and margaritas in a pitcher.

They're fine with BYOB (beer at least), and there's a liquor store across the street.

                      2. I'm a fan of Pizza Fusion. A bit of variation, not just pizza. Organic wine and beer. It's directly next to DGA.

                        1. you should go to vintage enocteca. great new menu and great list of wine and beer. its at sunset and sierra bonita. http://www.vintageenoteca.com/
