Good Food in or near Kittery, Maine

Hi All:

I'm looking for some good dining options in or around Kittery Maine. Going up with a group of people to do some shopping after Thanksgiving and we would like some options of where to eat after working up an appetite from shopping all day. Obviously the place needs to serve Lobster and lots of it, lol. Cost isn't so much a concern, but good food is. Portion size should be good as well. We're traveling with the men and they're going to want to eat big. Any help would be much appreciated.

  1. You might try Warren's Lobster House in Kittery. Look under "Special Promotions" on their Web site for coupons. Sounds like you'd enjoy it based on what you state you're looking for in your post. Some people have posted negative things about it, but I just ate there again last week and it was great, and portions are huge.

I would go with Robert's, across from the outlets. Excellent food, open for lunch and dinner.

Although I'm a big fan of Robert's, I would imagine that its location within the Kittery outlets would make it very crowded during the Thanksgiving through Christmas outlet season.

Not too far away is Cap'n Simeon's (on the water, great views), and the Cape Neddick Lobster Pound (also on the water). I've never eaten at Warren's Lobster House, but heard good things about it.

Kittery is pretty close to Portsmouth, NH, and there are nice places there. If you move a bit further north, there's Ogunquit, which has a couple of places still open during the off-season, but without knowing how far you'd be willing to venture outside of Kittery, I'd keep to the suggestions in my first paragraph.

        Have a great shopping trip!

Cape Neddick Lobster Pound might be closed at that time.

    2. I am also looking for something in this area but for a Sunday afternoon. We are going to a 6PM holiday concert in York, Maine and were hoping to meet friends BEFORE the show for an early dinner. Most of the places I do know don't open until 5PM. Even good bar food would be fine with us!

I also say Robert's - maybe you could get a reservation?

Robert's was good. It wasn't busy at 4PM and we were given the choice of ordering from the lunch or dinner menu. I had a very good portobello/goat cheese sandwich on great bread from Beach Pea and the slaw was fresh and crunchy. Also enjoyed the bloody mary with an olive and jalapeno added to the celery!

How 'bout Cal-Mex? Loco Coco's (corner Route 1 and Walker St., Kittery) has a greenhouse style bar. http://www.locococos.com

You were right on the money, CeeCeeGee--Anneke Jans was actually our first choice, but they don't open until 5. We go to Loco Coco's a lot already--love the taco salad--but wanted something different and more upscale. Checked Robert's website and they are indeed open so good advice--we'll call them--thanks!
