best dishes at J&G?
We had the seared scallop appetizer, which was really, really great, although it has different accompaniments now for the different season. My husband had the Wagyu sirloin, and it was also really just fantastic. Thought the steak sauce - all three - was an atrocity to the steak, however. I've had the more modestly priced hangar steak at lunch, and it's also great. My mother-in-law had the chicken, and it was also really great for something so inherently uninteresting - a perfectly crusted a seared piece of chicken. I had the short ribs. They were properly cooked and nicely presented, but I felt like I could have done better. The sauce was a little sweet for me, maybe.
The one dish I always hear great things about is the lamb, but I have not had it. My mother-in-law was buying and I thought I'd cut her a break when my husband ordered the most expensive steak on the menu.
We had the salted caramel ice cream sundae for dessert, and it was everything a person could hope for.
My ideal dinner would be the scallops, the Wagyu sirloin, and the caramel sundae, but maybe if I'd had the lamb, I would change my mind.
