I need recs for good BBQ along the length of CT-15 from I-84 to NY
I am new to Chowhound postings (this being my first) and thought I would seek the advice of you Chowhound regulars. My wife and I are traveling to Adelphi University to visit our son and recently came across CT-15. Much easier to drive vs. I-95; I am looking for good BBQ anywhere along this route that is not too far from the exit. Any help will be gladly appreciated.

i can speak from about where route 8 crosses 15 through to the NY border.
manage your expectations. there is NO good bbq down here along 15. there are some places people may recommend off 95 but who the heck wants to be on 95. it is a beautiful drive and during the right time of day is very speedy, what you guys call wicked fast. no trucks and lots of curves.
The 84 to 684 suggestion is aninteresting one as well but the drive will have more trucks involved and i do not find it all the plasant cutting across 84 to 684. but you can also get off around oxford ct and go to rich's ice cream which may be the best in the state as well as carol peck's good news cafe around exit 16 on 84. excellent food.
When you hit the hutch, you may want some chill pills because the drivers from there across the bridge will remind you of the worst of boston.

In Sturbridge Mass...get off 84...go past McDonalds...past the jug handle to go into Old Strubridge Village and on the right is a BBQ place that is really outstanding...pulled pork b eats anyone else listed..and I have eaten them all...I just wish I could remember the name..

Would it be this--B.T.'s Smokehouse in Sturbridge?

You can do 84 to 8 to 15 - and stop off 84 in Farmington CT at Flaggstead Smokehouse on Farmington Ave. The owner is from Austin, TX, and has excellent, authentic Texas BBQ - the brisket is amazing. It's no more than 10 minutes off the highway, and a straight shot back afterwards.

If they do the 84 to 684 thing, JBs Barbeque in Brewster is right off Exit 1, 84W between Danbury & Brewster. BBQ is good, sides are just okay. super casual.
