They missed Taqueria Alameda...

Mobile, AAA, Fodor's, Michelin, all of these "expert" ranking services are tremendously prejudiced.
Palates count. Rankers don't

Thanks Cw/E. My mouth just sprayed brandy all over the keyboard, as I saw "Logan's," which I mistakenly interpreted to be Logan's Roadhouse (steaks). Time to cut my losses and suppress further analysis.

Bwah! that would have been funny.
How many times have you looked at those "Best of Detroit" lists only to find best hamburger is Red Robin and best coffeehouse is Starbucks?
Where has Red Robin been voted as best burger? I've seen Red Coat Tavern mentioned quite a bit, but Red Robin? By whom?

Egad.
From the perspective of families with younger kids, I can understand those rankings. Fuddrucker's is kind of fun, and the specialty burgers can be very good, especially the ostrich. But there are so many local places, dives even, that do burgers so well (while not being restrictive to well done burgers) that open-poll rankings like those will never truly serve justice.

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought of the Roadhouse too.

Okay, I'll say it. Zagat has sometimes previously done worse for this area, than did they this year.

Agree, vtom...they actually had good restaurants this year. Know some fans who thought the omission of slows was a crime...

Until Slow's solves the (lack of consistent) service problem, their
composite score will always drag them down.

Agreed, JP. I think Zagat needs to put out two versions of their guide: one in which atmosphere, service, and use of high-end ingredients accounts for a large fraction of the overall rating; and another that lists hole-in-the-wall dives that may be humble, unpretentious, and unrefined, but serve the best damn food in town.

If you subscribe or buy their guide(s); they break-out their ratings such that you may find
what you seek.
Frankly; it is the contributors that make Chow shine in this regard. Yelp? Not so much.
Ciao, hounds
