Help - Village Trattoria

Just got word need to get into NY this weekend
and make a reservation for an inexpensive
trattoria in the (West) Village for Saturday night.
Sorry, if info might be in previous posts, but
have to get done asap.
Can anyone help with suggestions? Thanks!

  1. I expect some posters here will shoot back asking you for particulars on your pricing, logistics, dietary and other requirements. But, I'll go along blind and take a shot anyway. How about these 2 very trattoria -like ambiance:

    Malatesta; or
    da Andrea's ?

Thanks - I will check them out. I am looking for casual Italian, preferably in the West Village.

    2. RCC's suggestions are good ones for what you're looking for, I think.

Morandi and Gottino are also pleasant, casual Italian restaurants -- though not entirely inexpensive, if that's an important factor.

Gusto (just a few doors down from Gottino) has good fresh pasta, but in our experience, the service has been spotty.

If you want a celebrity chef (Mario Batali), lively atmosphere and decent pizzas, Otto might be your cup of tea.

You have a lot of options, clearly!

Thanks again! I was able to get a reservation at Otto. Gottino looked good, but their no reservations policy won't cut it on this trip. Morandi also looked good, I'll table it for another time.
