Taco truck sighting in Pontiac, MI.
Three times in the past two weeks I have seen a plain white taco truck driving down Walton Blvd. I've not been able to track down their whereabouts yet, has anyone else seen this truck? The only markings I've seen on it are a small picture menu on the right side of the serving window.
How cool! I will keep my eyes open for that truck. Is it like a step van size? Was it heading towards Perry? There is that strip mall just south of Walton on Perry which has several Hispanic businesses in it. I wonder if it was heading over there. What times of the day did you see the truck?
I almost never get out to Pontiac, so it goes without saying that I haven't seen this truck. If you do find out anything more about it -- or if someone else has information on it -- I'd love to hear! I'd make a trek out to Pontiac just to try it!
There's a quite large Mexican population in the further-out suburbs (e.g. Pontiac, Washington Township, Armada, etc.) -- mostly for the farming jobs. There are some good Mexican restaurants and markets there, to accommodate the population. Carnival Market is one example. Taqueria Michoacano in Washington Twp. is another example, and its owners actually got started by operating a truck in SW Detroit.
So I'm not surprised that there'd be a truck up in Pontiac for the Mexican population there. I'm wondering if it might be a SW Detroit truck that's moved up there, or perhaps even the old Michoacano truck? I've noticed in SW Detroit, in the latter part of summer, that there were fewer trucks than before -- so perhaps one or more of them is doing business in Pontiac?
