Canned Beans/lentils TO Dried Beans/lentils

What is the best way to figure out the conversion of canned beans to dried beans,?
For example i have a recipe asking for 1 19oz can of lentils how would i convert that to dried lentils? I would rather use the dried over canned to reduce the salt in the recipe so i can control the seasoning myself..

Thanks

Y.

Whenever I use canned beans/lentils, I rinse them under cold water...removes a lot of salt that way

In my experience, lentils double in volume, more or less, when they're cooked from dry. So, a generous cup or so of dry lentils should yield two generous cups cooked, or about the same as your 19oz can.
