Spacing of Topics

Why the additional blank line (or half line, perhaps) on the top and bottom each topic box? Boards were so easy to scan before; the additional spacing makes it a little annoying to browse.

Agreed. Irritating to have to scroll so much now.

Agreed. Less content on a given screen and harder on the eyes. Whoever is suggesting and approving these design changes is clueless when it comes to ergonomics. Yet another fail.

Oh, great. Now they've stolen another half inch from across the top of the window to add the glaring yellow Holiday Central banner, further reducing the truly useful content -- the topic listings -- visible on screen and further increasing the amount users have to scroll. Meanwhile, there's tons of empty space between the Discussion/Digest/Restaurants buttons and the Take Me to Chow buttons. Why not put the Holiday Central links there? FAIL!

The extra spacing is bad. Not only is there more scrolling, there are less topics per page. How is this an "improvement?"

        Bad, bad, bad.

          I am guessing:
          1) more white space makes the site more visually appealing to infrequent visitors
          2) fewer topics per page equals more pages to load. Increasing "page loads" as a web stat is indistinguishable from increasing the number of "visitors," which is important in selling advertising.

Or perhaps it's simply an unintended glitch, like the spacing issues that happened after the last major release?

Chow tech folks - could you chime in? I'm hoping it's an error that'll soon be fixed.

If only they could get back the space they waste pushing Glade.
