Soup dumplings and...

OK so I will be in Chinatown late this afternoon and I want to pick up dinner. I must have soup dumplings from either Dim Sum Garden or Sakura Mandarin. Question is which? I want to base my decision on what else I will get to go with the dumplings. Who has the best "second" dish and what is it? Thanks!

  1. I just generally like Sakura Mandarin more. Although perhaps Dim Sum Garden woudl be a good choice for tonight, since the weather's good - one of my main memories from going there before was how the place would get freezing when people came in and out of the front door.

    1. if comparing second dishes, i'd vote for dim sum garden over sakura mandarin. their handmade noodle dishes and scallion pancakes are amazing!

      1. Do soup dumplings transport well?

I only have to get them to Queen Village - about a mile and a half. But I have gently reheated them in the microwave on low power.

        2. Thanks folks. I went to Dim Sum Garden. Got soup dumplings, scallion pancakes and a chili cabbage pork hand drawn noodles and a shrimp hand drawn noodles. Due to circumstances beyond my control I wasn't able to eat until about two hrs after I picked them up. The pancakes reheated nicely in a 300 degree oven and the noodles warmed in a slow (70%) microwave for just a minute. The soup dumplings did well except the twisted tip got a bit dry - but I just bit that part off first and then settled in to soup dumpling nirvana. Have to figure out how to keep that moist - maybe saran wrap when I first pick them up...hmmmm.
The noodles have an amazing smooth and lush texture - really good. shrimp were a touch overdone
