ISO Shao Xing (Hsing?) Wine in Oakland/Berkeley

Does anyone know where I can find Shao Xing wine in Oakland or Berkeley (preferably Oakland Chinatown)? The grocery stores I've checked so far just look at me blankly or send me to the sake. I have a recipe I want to try and I want to use the real thing.

Berkeley Bowl (East) has it - bottom shelf where the sake is in the booze section.

Thank you, SteveG and KC72! With KC's tip on the Orient Market and Steve's help with what to look for, I had a successful trip to Chinatown and found the Shao Xing. (BBQ Pork Wonton Noodle Soup at Gum Wah was a bonus.) Funny, I'd never been to Orient Market before. I guess I'd always stayed between 8th and 11th. It is a real find! Bigger selection (and seemed maybe a little cleaner) than some of the other markets in Chinatown.

I like the market, bonus that they have the parking lot below and they validate you if you spend $20min. With the validation, I can still make it to other stores/delis to pick up stuff also.

Oh, good to know!! I work in downtown Oakland and usually bike over there, but reliable parking for my weekend forays for crab or lobster will be helpful! I noticed that they do have crab and lobster at the Orient, though the price seemed a little high compared to what I've been seeing at my usual haunts.

I'm sure the markets you've tried in Chinatown have it--in my experience it's usually in the same aisle as the sake, usually down low, because it's cheap cooking wine and nobody impulse buys the stuff. Bottles are usually about 10" tall, and 2" square, glass, red label with black and gold accents.

Hmm, maybe it isn't always a square bottle. Take a look at these so you can tell what you're looking for:

          99 Ranch Market in Richmond.

Some of the bigger markets in Oakland CTown should -- I've seen it at Orient Market on 7th St (between Broadway and Franklin)
