Urgent Need for Counsel: What venue would allow dancing and gambling (maybe if we just use play money??) for a private party?
Hello all!
I am turning 30 only once in my life...so I am having a party to "Roar out of my 20's" to celebrate.
So here's my vision: dressing up in 20's attire, dancing, food, drinks, and...(gulp) gambling! All the things we loved during Prohibition.
It would be great to get a venue that used to operate as a speakeasy, though I think that may be far-fetched at this point. So I'm trying to think of venues that would be a good fit.
I don't have much time, as I turn 30 at the end of Nov! Can you help?
Thanks all,
Mary
Prohibition at the W? Their kitchen is, I believe, Manny's.

I'm with Kate on this one. I can't imagine a better venue for a 20s event than an actual location used to smuggle alcohol during prohibition. The caves offer you a blank(er) canvas than the W and you will save your guests $10 each in parking / valet charges by hosting it outside of downtown MPLS. Either way you go, I hope you have a wonderful birthday.

I think this is a great idea. Dumb question (I've never been there)-- it won't be too cold in late November?

I think we were there in the early fall, but it's a fully-finished space with dance floor, bar, restrooms, etc. While it did seem a little damp feeling, there shouldn't be any major issues due to weather.

Sounds very fun. What a great rec. Is there any food?

Hi TDQ! I found this link. The place looks like fun though a bit pricey for the current contents in my pocketbook. :)
