Recommendations for Beautiful Restaurant, Outdoor Seating, Great Food

I'm visiting LA next weekend to attend a wedding for the couple that has everything. Rather than trying to find the perfect gift, he's an interior designer, I'd like to give the couple of gift certificate for a great meal at some place special.

I would love to find a special restaurant that has outdoor seating, is very pretty and comfortable and, of course, has really great food. Any and all recommendations would be much appreciated.

Now that I think about some more, Spago would be a good choice as well. The atrium is a lovely seating area, nice and secluded from the din of the main dining room.

Wilshire would be an excellent choice. The patio is gorgeous and romantic and the food is great.

I second the idea -- The Wilshire has all you seek.

I like the patio and food at Lucques. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, and on cold nights they have heaters. They also have a warm and welcoming environment inside, which is nice when it's cold like it's been for the past 2 weeks. They have a fireplace and it's very romantic (if you go with the right person). I've always been happy with the setting either inside or outside. The bar is also welcoming, helped by a good bartender, and they make a great sidecar. Service is very good. The sommelier is knowledgeable, and even explains wine you bring in yourself. Food is your basic meat and fish, nothing too experimental; but the preparation is superb imho.

Yes, the bar at Lucques is cool. And interesting people seem to congregate there.

Michael's patio is indeed beautiful. If only their food was the equal if their patio. Alas, it is not.
