Restaurants open on Dec 24th and 25th in Lisbon?

Hi guys,
I've been trawling the boards here and have pulled up great recommendations (especially from Vinhotinto75 - thanks!).

I'll be arriving with my mom in Lisbon on the 24th. I was wondering if it would be difficult to find restaurants open on the 24th or the 25th? Any recommendations for ones that would be open would be greatly appreciated.

We're staying near the Rossio, but would be willing to travel for good food. We'll eat any type of food/cuisine, and price isn't an issue (thank god for parents, says the unemployed graduate student).

Many thanks in advance!

Most restaurants here in Lisboa are closed on both of those dates since they are holy days. Still, some of the really upscale ones might be open in order to cater to tourists.

Nevertheless, my main suggestion would be to plan on dining at one of the better restaurants (if they are open) that are affiliated with a hotel, as well as check some of the more upscale touristy places.

    Here would be some recommendations:

Brasserie Flo - Excellent Luso-Franco cuisine on the Avenida da Liberdade at the Tivoli

Restaurante A Confraria - Portuguese cuisine at the York House Hotel in Lapa. Fantastic.

A Travessa - Very well known and chic Portuguese food in a former convent.

The Chic Restaurante Tavares was open a year or two ago on Christmas and New Years Eve, so perhaps they may be this year too.

Sometimes the Restaurante da Associação Naval is open on holidays. It has a spectacular view of the Rio Tejo in Belém

Likewise, as you have noted, you could look at the hundreds of recommendations and send emails or call if something seems interesting to see if they are serving those days.

Please let me know if I can assist in any way.

    Sorte!

Thanks so much, Vinho. I'll email the places on the list to see if they're open. Do you have a blog or do food criticism by any chance? You're so active on these boards I would love to see if you've done other writing.
      Cheers!

Thank you for your comments. I do not have a blog or do food criticism but am very passionate about food, particularly across the Lusophone world. I'm a rather accomplished home chef too, yet my passion for food is entirely a hobby and not a professional enterprise.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Lisboa and feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

        Sorte!
