Any suggestions? My favorite local Indian closed a few years ago and I don't know what's good in the 'hood anymore.

btw tried Surya tonight. sadly, although the halibut was perfectly cooked, there were almost NO SPICES in any dish (we had three entrees). The saag spinach dish was completely tasteless. What happened to the fresh ground spices that India is famous for? We complained, and they took it back to the kitchen and added pure chile, so it was too hot to eat. But still tasteless. Terrible dinner, overall. Will not return!

The best are in Curry Hill, along Lex from 32nd to 23rd; it shouldn't be hard for you to find the threads that evaluate that congeries.
I myself like Tamarind, on 22nd just west of Park -more boutique than local, but good.

Tamarind in Curry Hill is good, but also try Tiffin Wallah over there. They have an excellent lunch buffet for something like $6 or $7 and the food is awesome!

I live near Curry Hill, and our go-to is Tiffin Wallah, 28th and Lex --- unlike a lot of places, their food is super-fresh. Try the Samosa Chat, and the sukhi bahji. MMmmmmm.
