Japanese groceries?

Can you recommend a source for good japanese groceries., noodles, stocks, etc? If i can't find my LA style ramen, maybe i'll try making it!
thanks

When Kotobukiya closed last year in Porter Square there was talk of them reopening in Medford - anyone know if that ever happened?

Ebisuya opened in Medford Square. I think this is what people considered son of Kotobukiya. When I went (soon after they opened) they were definitely a work in progress. Maybe others have more recent reports?

They've got everything they had at the Porter Sq locations, with perhaps a few more things. And a lot more floor space. Prices are generally every-so-slightly-more than Reliable Market in Union Sq.

Reliable market is a solid Korean/Japanese grocer in Somerville. Not nearly the size of the supermarkets, but has a pretty good selection of both Korean and Japanese goods.

The best is Ebisuya in Medford followed by Japan Village Mart in Brookline. Neither Super 88/HK nor H-Mart offer the selection of Japanese products as those two. Ebisuya has a really great fresh fish department with nice cuts of fish, sashimi as well as a sushi bar.

I concur with the recommendation for Ebisuya --- it was really excellent when I went there.

Super 88/HK market does have some Japanese products. If you just need rice, curry roux, nori, gummy candies... they've got that. You can certainly get some kombu and bonito, but they'd be of questionable quality.

If you can make it out to H-Mart (mostly Korean) they have a much deeper Japanese selection. There's also Ebisuya in Medford. If you need T access, try Cherry mart on Newbury near Mass Av.

Check their hours - I shopped there a couple of weeks ago.

try the super 88/hong kong market on brighton avenue in allston - they seem to have a good section of japanese products.

Yes, as much as I like HKM, I don't recommend it for Japanese groceries. They don't even have Okonomi Sauce!
