Looking for casual non-chain restaurant near Bulldog Stadium --- Fresno

Help! Our group (6), four adults and two male high school seniors will be attending Sierra Cup Classic at the Bulldog Stadium next Saturday, Oct 30th. Looking for casual restaurant nearby with good food within walking distant of the Stadium if possible. Really don't want to move the car once parked. No chains please. We have time to eat between 4:30 - 7:30 pm. Any recomendations will be greatly appreciated.

Not your typical "gringofied student budget" type of place, even though the prices are quite reasonable given the quality. You'll find a few items not seen elsewhere in our City's myriad of choices for the cuisine, such as pambazos (sometimes called panbaso)

I would definitely check out Doghouse Grill, they have really good burgers, fries and BBQ'd food there. A real fun place! :)

I will say that I was at Doghouse yesterday and if you go there, you have to order the tri tip sandwich. One will feed two people easily. I'm not usually a big tri tip fan but this is the best tri tip sandwich I've had in this area. An incredible amount of meat and very tender.

Don Pepe on Woodrow/Shaw (about a 1/2 mile West of Dog House) for really good Mexican food (esp the camarones, al pastor, and lengua.

gmk1322 beat me to it. Don Pepe's hands down. But it helps if you're a fan of marsicos..... Dog House is okay if you're looking for standard burger/fries/beer.

And for the adults - order a beer - comes with a shrimp, salt and hot sauce at the top of the bottle. Cant beat it.

Dog House Grill is on the E side of the campus and has outstanding BBQ and cold drinks. BJ's is a little W of the stadium. They have fine bar food and cold drinks.

Non-chain within walking distance of Bulldog Stadium. That's a pretty tall order. I can only think of maybe two; Sushi and Pop, which I have not been to for a while and gets mixed reviews, and Fajita Fiesta, which I'm not sure if it's a local chain or not.
