Love Pizza ? -- do yourself a favor and go -- Paolina's Way, Camden ,Maine

  • 4

Had lunch there today. Our first time . We have been hearing about Paolina's from several quarters. So - it was the time for the test. Loving pizza and pasta , coupled with living in the Thomaston, Rockland area is at best a depravation. That aside --- if you favor thin crust pizza this establishment will fill the bill and then some. We ordered two -- the mushroom/olive and the salami/sausage. For starters we did the crab cakes --- yummy ( the accompanyning greens and tomatoe were crisp and fresh). The pizza's were spot on --- the cheese 's and sauce were great as were the mushrooms and olives. The sausage was local and we found it to be great - the salami tasty too. Some nice red Chianti --- finishing with gelato and expresso made for a very pleasant lunch . We will return frequently -- a good pizza is a rare gem in these parts -- for Christine -- SALUDE !!

  1. We're going to try Paolina's tonight, but found surprisingly good pizza at the Hope General Store. We were certainly surprised, but most pleasantly!

    1. Going to Camden again in a couple weeks and my wife and I looking forward to another visit there. My post from last year's visit:

"We just had lobster pizza (chalk board special) from Paolina's Way and it was outstanding. Not large chunks of lobster but smaller pieces spread throughout, fresh tomatoes, shaved Parmesan and pea shoot greens. Very thin crust with the perfect amount of chewiness. Also had the shrimp pizza on the regular menu and it was nearly as good. I have to say those were among the most memorable pizzas we ever had."

      1. We had a good but not great meal there last week. Service was ridiculously slow, but they were apologetic, and gave my daughter a free tiramisu. One hour and 40 minutes for dinner, and 50 minutes before we even got our salads. Which were overpriced. Pizza topping was excellent, but I wasn't crazy about the crust.

We had surprisingly good pizza at the Hope General Store, just 12 minutes up Route 105. Good NY style crust, yummy toppings. Half the price.
