Wow, Domenica Happy Hour
I know this has been posted before...all I can say is I wholeheartedly agree with an earlier post (too lazy to go looking) on the fabulous Domenica's 3-6 happy hour. A friend and I just met for some excellent wines, cocktails (both 1/2 off) a few pizzas (ditto), the ricotta/date pesto bruschetta and a dessert (neither discounted but still totally reasonable, incredibly generous, and delicious) and could not believe how tiny the bill. Add to it our window seat overlooking the gorgeous Jesuit church, and a very quiet dining room, nicely relaxed service, and it is my new early evening, late afternoon, 5 o'clock cocktail favorite. And 7 days a week. What a deal! Shocked how empty it was!

Swampsue,
They impressed me, and I did not experience them at their "finest moment." They basically kept the place open, as we fought with the Roosevelt staff to get what we had so meticulously reserved months before. Still, the staff was more than gracious, and the food was good to very good, though the kitchen was officially close by the time we rolled in. No one rushed us in any way. Going into the reservation, the management bent over backwards for a very picky eater, and I have zero complaints. I would only imagine that happy hour, many hours before our visit, would be great. They seem to get it, unlike some. Hat's off to them and thank you for the review.

re: Bill Hunt
Yes, I think they are filling a dearth of great deals for the after work/dinner(ish) hour, but thanks for the heads up, Kibbles, that would certainly make my "happy hour" less happy. Hopefully, with a few more nudges, the management will correct the faux pas. (And just to say in general, I find I'm not gettin on Chow too much these days, (busy busy) so my responses/comments are most sporadic. But my proverbial hat off to all you hounders, and here's to Good Eatin (and drinkin!)

i am a fan. however watch the clock -- at 3 different Besh restaurants the bartenders have all bitten me in the same way...i hunker up to the bar, say id like to order from the happy hour. we get a round, maybe two. bartender asks if wed like another? sure. but when the bill comes the last round is full-price. when i inquire, its "Oh yes that last one didn't make it into the computer on time. So sorry."
this happened at Dominca and Luke in the same week once, so i contacted Besh management to suggest they ask the bartenders to lighten up. then it happened again at American Sector a week later. sigh. buyer beware, watch the clock.
