Dine About Town - Jan 2011

Is it too early to start talking about DAT?? Naw....

Any idea when the participating restaurants are announced? Trying to get our ducks in a row for our annual winter trip to San Francisco. We had a grand time last year and are looking forward to trying other places this year. Any newcomers that I should look for that might be included [I realize that it would be mere speculation, but heck, that's what we do best when it comes to food!]

  1. I find Dine About Town less and less impressive each time it's offered. The deals are rarely much of a value and it seems that there are few new participants.

If you're looking to get a good value/save while eating on your trip, I'd suggest signing up for email alerts for several daily deal sites. Of course, you'd have to be careful about expiration dates.

I have signed up for Groupon in SF; I use it here at home.

I have checked the other links out, thanks.

I have to agree. There are no real bargins and you get no real feel for the restaurants. Maybe DAT has "Jumped the Shark"
        :-)

    2. The list of participating restaurants is now online:

That list will probably keep getting updated over the next few weeks, as I don't see many of the traditional DAT participants like Aziza, Campton Place, Vitrine, etc. I certainly hope Aziza will be participating again!

With many of the participating restaurants, it doesn't seem like you would save much (if anything) via DAT.

Nombe is participating, which is exciting.

Didn't Nombe participate this past year? The cool thing was they offered like double the number of courses (3), so that you could try a bunch of little things. Very cool indeed.

assuming nombe participates in beer week in february; i would hold off until that. had three courses paired with three magnolia beers.

Yes, Nombe was part of DAT last year though I didn't try that menu. Note that the current Nombe chef will be leaving at the end of the year, so things will be different in January.
