Best Muffin

  • 6

I am in search of the best muffin in the City. I prefer homemade muffins (the opposite of Crumbs and street vendors) that light and airy; not greasy. For example, my favorite muffin is the chocolate sourcream muffin at Mary's Marvelous in Amagansett, NY.

  1. I like City Bakery's muffins -- they are not too sweet and very fresh (in the mornings), which somehow is a rarity.

City Bakery has a unique (in my experience) muffin called a baker's muffin, which I love. I also love their blueberry corn muffins.

I am big fan of Blue Dog Cafe, on W. 25th St just west of 6th. I haven't tried their muffins, but have read very good things about them.

I love the baker's muffin-but its availability is INCREDIBLY inconsistent. Oftentimes, they've run out by 3pm. On other occasions, I've been there to buy something else and with any purchase they were giving the muffins away! It's so strange, but the muffins are good if you can get them (and even better if you get to score a free one!)

    2. I'm not a muffin expert. But my three favorites are Locanda Verde, Levain, and Maialino. I also like the oreo muffin from Donut Pub and believe it or not the pumpkin cream cheese muffin at Starbucks but these are not light and airy.

      1. Pain Quotidian's blueberry muffin is delicious.

        1. Try Westside Market's muffins, especially the blueberry, coffee cinnamon and double chocolate. They have a nice crunchy top and are fluffy on the inside. Not just supermarket good, but actually good! I'm only familiar with the 110th St branch but perhaps the other branches have them too. The pistachio one sucks though.
