Where to store peanut oil? (moved from Home Cooking board)

I just opened a new bottle of peanut oil and noticed that the bottle said No Preservatives. So I put it in the fridge, and it basically solidified. The bottle does not say to keep it refrigerated. Will it be OK on the shelf or should I leave it in the fridge and take it out to "melt" before I need it the next time?

I store peanut oil in the fridge if I've opened a bottle and know I won't be able to use it fairly quickly. The brand I buy comes in a narrow, somewhat soft plastic bottle so I just invert the bottle and squeeze and the semi-solid peanut oil comes out in blobs.

I've only bought it once and I kept it in the cupboard. I think it went a little rancid smelling but I had it for several months and it was over the summer when the kitchen was quite warm. I keep nuts in the freezer over the summer months for that reason. So you are probably fine for a while.

If you decide to keep it in the fridge just take it out an hour before you use it to let it get liquid again.
