gunk in non-stick pan

took out my non-stick for the first time in a very long time and noticed a black gunky residue in there that doesn't want to come out anyone know what it might be and how i would get rid of it, btw there is a chance i used cooking spray in it before is knew any better( so its a possibility)

  1. I've got one non-stick pan, and it said not to use cooking spray in it, so I haven't. I'm not sure why cooking spray is incompatable with PTFE as PTFE is fairly inhert. If I had to guess, it would be congeled cooking spray, but that's just a guess.

    1. I have had this sometimes when cooking oily things and not cleaning right away. i made a paste with baking soda and water and rubbed it into the parts that were problematic.

it worked quite well, rubbed it in with a paper towel at first and then used a kitchen towel. even did it on the steel handle of the pan and got it nice and shiny.
