  1. For Blowing Rock, I would suggest Best Celler for dinner and Storie Street Grill for lunch. Many of the locals line up on Friday afternoons at Knights on Main for the fried oyster special.

Boone, try Vidalia for dinner and for lunch try Our Daily Bread (sandwich) or Portofino (casual italian).

The peak in the High Country started the weekend before last and is now past. With the high winds today (Grandfather Mountain closed the upper half due to winds) I can only imagine that the remaining leaves will have fallen. I am sure you will get good color taking a short drive south on the Parkway to Little Switzerland. Check out the Grandfather mountain website as they have been giving daily updates on where to see the best fall foliage off the the Parkway.

    1. I've eaten at Hob Nob Farm Cafe in Boone several times and enjoyed it. It has an unusual menu...sushi, southwestern, thai and cuban; sounds weird, but everything I've had has been good.

      1. In Boone go to Coyote Kitchen for lunch or dinner and Pepper's Kitchen also. Go to Hob Knob for great breakfast, lunch or dinner.
