One Night in Piqua (Oh) ~ Where to Eat
Hey Hounds
So we're staying over night in Piqua on our way down for Thanksgiving. I see a place called Zender's and it seems really neat. I've also hear people talk about a place called Hole in the Wall Pizza which is supposed to be awesome.
Is either a great choice or what is a better option?

Hey Hounds
We ended up at Beppo Uno for pizza.
Nice bread sticks and pizza so thin it only has one side. Very nice and very good.

re: Fibber McGee
It was a Cassano's. It's been open as Beppo's for a few months now apparently. Seems they're full of regulars as well. The couple next to us has a standing Friday night dinner there and (at least this week) added Tuesday night to the mix.
I'll be blogging about it when I get time.
One word of warning though. We had the meat lovers and it was too much with the toppings. I think less is certainly more in this case.DT

As said, the pizza was great but we had too many toppings.
We also loved the bread sticks although the dipping sauces didn't add anything IMHO. Didn't detract either though.

Honestly, Davwud, my friends in Piqua come south to eat. Troy isn't too far south of Piqua and has what they consider better options.

re: Niki in Dayton
What would be those better options?? We're always good for Skyline and I know there's one there.
We're usually not that eager to venture far from the hotel once we're settled. I figure we're heading out around 8pm. Piqua is supposed to have a nice downtown which is another attraction for us. That said, when we stayed in Tipp City they talked about a nice downtown area and we really didn't find it all that special. Of course, it had to compete with Fredericksburg from the week before.

Fredericksburg, Virginia?
I'm not so sure you can call what Tipp has a downtown, but just off the main Tipp I-75 exit the Hickory River Smokehouse has about the best barbecue in the area. Hinders, a little bar, has the best wings around. And Tipp of the Town is one of the best family restaurants anywhere in the area. Further East on Main (571), Harrison's and Coldwater Cafe are both very good, although Coldwater is far from casual.
A short drive East on US 36 from Piqua is Covington, and Buffalo Jack's. They're famous for their game menu. Alligator, buffalo, rattlesnake, elk and vension are all on the menu, although none of that is under $20 for a dinner.

It's looking like TC/P are gonna be regular stopovers for us and the TC rec's are noted. We're usually on a bit of a budget and are especially this trip so BJ's out. TotT is a very interesting idea but as said, we usually don't like to venture far so that'll have to wait.
We don't have much interest in HRS since we're coming from/going to Alabama and BBQ country. Besides, as a Tennessean, Mrs. Sippi won't like it.
Va. yes.

Ah. Fredericksburg. What a great historical town.
Niki really does know of what she speaks, even if it's through friends this time. If you're more comfortable dining in Piqua, i know some folks who just love the downtown ice cream place Susie's Big Dipper. They do have soups and sandwiches, too.

re: Fibber McGee
Like I said, it's more about being on the road for 8 hours and then getting back on the road. Half the time we just grab McD's or something and have it in our room. We just don't want to drive much after that.
Fredericksburg is incredible. We only allotted a day and now we have to go back.
