Group lunch downtown
I'm organzing a group lunch, about 25 or so people, for an author coming into town.
The lunch will be midweek. Nothing high-end in terms of food or arrangement, and preferably with a private room. Best if downtown if possible. A nice view would be great.
No particular cuisine, just good eats.
Hmm... this is a tough one. It's hard to find one place that offers all of those things (private room, good food, good view, downtown, not high end)
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Quartino: private rooms, good food, downtown (Ontario and State), no view
Phoenix: quiet on the weekdays (and has private rooms), great Chinese food for Chicago, gorgeous views of the city, not expensive, but in Chinatown
The Gage: good food, across from Millennium Park...not sure about private rooms though
Smith and Wollensky: good food, nice views, may be too expensive
626 N. State Street, Chicago, IL 60654
>> does saying that nice view is optional open up more possibilities?
Yes, a lot more.
I would give the private party at Lettuce Entertain You a call. They have several dozen restaurants in all price categories throughout the Chicago area, including many downtown, and many of them have private rooms. They have a centralized private party department that does a great job at making such arrangements, so you have one point of contact who can advise you on which one best suits your needs. Their private party group has their own website with contact and other information, at www.lettuceparties.com
