Near Newton Wellesley Hospital

I will be starting to spend 1-2 days per week at my office at Newton Wellesley Hospital and was wondering if there was anything Choworthy for lunch at a decent distance? I'm hoping there is something to hold me over for a couple lunches a week.

Thanks!

The best and closest restaurant to NW is Kouzina in Waban! Kind of a Greek-French fusion-- I recommend their delicious lamb sirloin wrap with wonderful fries.
Someone mentioned The Local, but they are only open for lunch on Fridays.
In Wellesley Square, Alta Strada is a great choice IMHO. And don't forget Blue Ginger- it's surprisingly affordable at lunchtime.

A second vote for Kouzina. After my niece was born (at NW) my folks and I went there for an early dinner. Cozy restaurant, nice people, and not too expensive.

Good call on Kouzina. It is awesome and incredibly easy to get to from the hospital. One of the better Starbucks (large, clean, comfortable, good service) is right there, as well.

Kouzina has a great lunch menu.

Down the street in Newton Highlands on Lincoln St is Bakers Best. Great sandwiches, soups and salads.

LOVE Kouzina and Baker's Best -

FYI - As someone who works in Wellesley and has been to N-W Hospital a lot recently, it can take up to 20 minutes each way - so I'd avoid Wellesley Sq locations, but Singh's Cafe is definitely worth it - probably 10 minutes in traffic. I do agree that Blue Ginger is affordable at lunch - even more so than Alta Strada (which is also great). The Cottage is pretty good, but not really "great"...

CK Shanghai is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Boston though the Americanized Chinese food is just so-so.

Cafe Mangal near Wellesley Square. Beware of the ladies who lunch, though- it can get pretty crowded.

There's a great restaurant in Wellesley on Linden Street called The Cottage.

Across the street from them is California Kitchen.

Closer to NWH is CK Shanghai on Washington Street.

Across the street from CK is Papa Razzi.

Barry's Deli in Waban is also great.

In West Newton (near the theatre) is Sweet Tomatoes........great pizza!

Paddy's Pub on Elm Street in West Newton and right around the corner from

Blue Ribbon BBQ, which is also great..................very limited seating though.

Also in the vicinity of Blue Ribbon is Comella's, which makes tolerable Italian (e.g., meatball, chicken parm) sandwiches. Not my first choice, but good enough to be worked into the rotation.

Depending on how long one has, the Farm Grille, on Needham Street in Newton, is not all that far. Their lamb-and-beef gyro is, imho, one of the best sandwiches in the Boston area. (My trifecta of Boston-area sandwiches is the Farm Grille's gyro, Chacarero, and the bahn mi at the Super 88 food court.)

A couple doors down from Blue Ribbon BBQ is Shogun - which makes some pretty passable sushi, if that's what you're in the mood for...

The Local, right near Blue Ribbon, has very good burgers. The fries are hit or miss.

Barry's Village Deli in Waban is very close to there. Perhaps my favorite deli in the Boston area.

2nd Barry's. Also Tutto Italiano in Wellesley. The breakfast at Captain Marden's is underrated as well. Take advantage of the time at lunch one day to hit Wasick's in Wellesley to sample and stock up on great cheeses.

Oh, and the lunch buffet at Singh's Cafe in Wellesley is definitely chow-worthy.

Up Route 16 just across the river in Wellesley there is an adequate sandwich place that used to be called The Riverview Cafe, plus C.K.'s Shanghai which gets mixed reviews here. Moody Street in Waltham isn't all that far and has plenty of lunch options, including Franco's Pizza (on the Newton side of the line), Mi Tierra (Salvadoran), and a little farther off two good Mexican joints: Taqueria Mexico on Charles Street and Taqueria El Amigo on Willow.
