Morganville / Freehold for a few days, best cheap chow finds?

SocksManly Oct 20, 2010 03:56 AM

I'll have my evenings to myself or with a few buddies in this area, any good recommendations?

I doubt I'll be dining, just cheap good food spots basically.

Coming from Toronto, Canada.. Then I'm off to Vegas for a few weeks. :)

I like most all food, especially indian, mexican, authentic chinese, BBQ places, and any place that does things differently/well.

The only must eat in Freehold is Ibby's, with the possible exception of a great sausage pizza and one of the best homemade creamy italian salad dressings anywhere at Frankie Fed's.
If you are willing and able to drive for abour half an hour then there are more. Route 34 north takes you to Shanghai Bun, Westlake Seafood, Deninos, and Siam Smiles - all within a few blocks just before you get to Route 79.
Red Bank is also in that radius if you take Route 537 east to Route 35 north. El Norte de la Frontera by the train station has some great cheap grub - I don't go a week without some chorizo or suadero tacos and the tamales they have on weekends. Nearby, Willy's has the most authentic Philly cheesesteaks in the area.
For burgers, Freehold has Frankly Burgers and More, Manalapan has Cheeburger Cheeburger, Shrewsbury has Five Guys, and Eatontown has Bobby Flay's Burger Palace. Any and all of them will give you a good bang for your buck.
BTW - do not miss Raku in Vegas if you have a car there. Look it up on the SW board.

There's also a Five Guys on Rt. 9 South in Manalapan (same plaza as Hunan Gourmet).
