Who has the best dessert menu in Downtown LA?

Water Grill? Patina? Checkers? Others? Is there any place that is especially good for this?

Roy's, for their chocolate souffle cake and sleek but unfussy atmosphere. It was outstanding.

I recently had lunch at the Water Grill and I was really disappointed by the dessert menu. Nothing on the dessert menu looked that interesting and about a third of the desserts had coffee in them, which is okay if you like the flavor of coffee, but I detest it. I ended up with some kind of cake that supposedly came with blueberries, but there were two or three blueberries and the cake tasted a lot like the kind you would get at the supermarket. It was probably one of the worst desserts that I have ever had at a so-called top notch restaurant.

I believe the poster is referencing the donuts served at Grace, which is clearly nowhere near downtown.
But they are heavenly-gourmet-little-fried-doughy-treats. Yes indeed.

While Ciudad certainly does have some terrific selections (including the flan and the aforementioned torta de tres leches), I think WATER GRILL has the best overall depth and selection for dessert lovers.

I like the desserts at Ciudad (445 S. Figueroa St., (213) 486-5171). Their tres leches cake, in particular, is really really good.
