Seeking organic habaneros

If anyone comes across these, please give me a heads-up.

Rainbow usually has them for several weeks, but they disappeared in a blink of an eye.

I like to rinse, dry, then freeze them for use throughout the year.

Thanks!

I had 5 plants down in Morgan Hill that put out a pitiful amount this year, if I get any more ripe fruit I could maybe throw some your way.

Couldn't find a way to reply personally to this generous offer--thanks!

I too have some hab and Thai chile plants in my SF backyard--haven't dared go down to check since rain. Have gotten several habs from one plant, zero from others; Thais, usually tougher, are flowering but have produced little.

Even in the best years, our habs are not quite so hot as store-bought, though the Thais can be admirably so. Both produce smaller fruit than would grow in warmer climates, but, like apparently almost everyone else, we've suffered from cold spring and summer this year.

I like to freeze the largest organic habs I can find, so one per dish will heat it up nicely!

I got a huge healthy bag from Mariquita last week (and ironically gave them away). So maybe look for farmers that are near Watsonville.

Quetzal had some at Berkeley this past Saturday, but not many. But yeah, they said that the habaneros are going to be way fewer this year because of the cold weather.

Not much help, because I don't remember then name of the vendor (might have been Bautista Ranch) but I remember seeing some at the Jack London Square farmers market this Sunday.

They haven't shown up yet, but Tierra Vegetables usually sells them at Ferry Plaza.

I saw some at the Ferry Plaza this morning but they were minuscule. The guy at the stand said that this summer had been so cold they didn't develop properly. If I remember correctly, he is only selling them by the pound. Sorry, but I don't remember the name of the farm.
