Spiny Lobster, baja style?

I understand that there are now a couple of pretty good restaurants in San Diego that do a passable imitation of the Lobster that Porto Nuevo in Baja is famous for. You know, Lobster, beer, beans, rice, beer, tortillas, beer. ( Someone posted that the lobster in Porto Nuevo now comes in from New Zealand!) Anyway, any place locally here that serves that meal moderately priced? Interested anywhere San Gabriel Valley and west. Thanks.

I really don't think there are any good examples around. Down in the Newport Beach area there is the Rockin Lobster http://www.rockinbaja.com/ outfit (or whatever they are called) but I think they feature the "slipper" type of lobster. You are undoubtedly a lot better off either doing this at home or switching up to Tan Cang Seafood for their lobster dinner items.

If you ever make it down to Laguna Beach, Coyote Grill has a good version, from their site-

      "Lobster Puerto Nuevo Market Price
Whole local lobster when in season, split, grilled and served with beans, rice and guacamole and sour cream.
This way of cooking and eating lobster made famous down Puerto Nuevo, Baja."

I'll give it a try when I'm in the area.
