  1. Canteen is pretty basic for the cost, though the times it's open and its offerings are better than most breakfast/lunch places in the area. I really like the Canteen Butty and would re-order that (with no ketchup). But I had their potatoes and found them ho-hum, their light breakfast kinda also ho-hum. Not bad, just not my first choice.

I haven't tried Marben, but after Canteen, I would try it before returning to Canteen.

    1. Haven't tried Canteen but Marben was worth repeating.
Not busy at all, delicious bread with soft butter and well executed dishes at very reasonable prices.
I had never tried testina before Marben.

I second Marben. Had a great Monday brunch there -- food was simple but imaginative enough to make it stand out from standard brunch offerings. Service was attentive but not hovering. And like chocabot said, it's nice and quiet.

Yeah.. I haven't tried Canteen either but the menu never really caught my eye.

I would pick Marben over Canteen but I find Marben's brunch menu is not as interesting as their dinner..

        2. Canteen is more cafeteria, Marben more fancy-pants. Similar prices at lunch.
