Lunches - Belfast/Rockland, Maine

Making a quick trip down and up the Maine coast, stopping in Belfast going down and Rockland going up. Any suggestions for good, quick lunches in these towns at this time of year (mid-October)? By 'quick', I mean not a drawn out sit down event, though perfectly happy to sit down!

  1. I really like Thorndike...some really good sandwiches, soups, and pizza. And Gifford's ice cream for dessert.

Other options include MacLaren's (sandwiches), Bricks ($5 lunches...sit outside if nice), Waterworks for a more "pub-y" vibe, or Sweets & Meats (more upscale sandwich deli).

Careful at Chase's. It can be very busy and, therefore, not at all quick.

I agree, although it's SO good. Other faster Belfast possibilities might be the Co-op, although I don't think there's sit-down space; and BayWrap.

Maybe this late in the season we'll luck out at Chase's Daily. Sounds wonderful. Can't seem to find how late they serve lunch. 2:00? Thanks for alternatives, too.

      2. I like the Brown Bag and the Home Kitchen Cafe for lunch in Rockland...

        1. Asian salmon wrap at Bay Wraps is amazing. If open for lunch, Young's Lobster Pound just over the bridge from Belfast...

Thanks, everybody. We're heading out and will report.

          2. Everyone was so right about Chases Daily. Fabulous food, but sloooow. Actually, it seemed it was slow only for us! Seated right away and then watchd everyone around us being served. Our server must have just been having a bad day - one that gave her an imperious air! Anyway, the food was wonderful and what a great place.
In Rockport, we were running late, so had a quick soup & sandwich at Atlantic Baking Co. Very nice.
Thanks again to all for advice and, yes, indeed, I would go back to Chase's Daily. Lord knows I've been imperious in my time.

This is the first time I've run across someone whose experience at Chase's matched mine when I was there with two others last summer. Slow and imperious and watching others being served just about sums it up. The fact that the food was good didn't evidently cancel that out since I just realized I haven't been back since.

I hate to bash the place, but you can count me in this group as well. Operations side needs attention.

Maybe the three of us just 'lucked' on to the same waitress. There was a guy serving who was handling his tables fabulously.
