Japanese food - family style ?

Wondering if there are any restos that serve traditional Japanese fare as one might find in the average Japanese household ? My only time in Japan was as a young child so I have no first-hand experience in eating traditional family fare, so this may come across as a bit of an academic question.

Yoshoku-ya on Denman.. the hamburger steak and their curry is delicious (salad is also great b/c of their house made dressing)

Hi-Genki... Curry is so good here. They also have tempura icecream =)
