The title pretty much says it all. I'll be there in three days. Would love a memorable enchilada to add to the pantheon I've assembled from past trips to Oaxaca, Mexico City, and SF. Thanks!

Thanks folks for the suggestions. I'll report back on our enchilada verdicts when we return.

And, if you have an absolute favorite santa fe restaurant that we should not miss, I'd love to know that as well.

Blue corn enchiladas at the Shed are the absolute best!

      Hi, and welcome in advance!

Inside the tourist vortex, I think the enchiladas at Shed are pretty good; its sister restaurant, La Choza, probably edges it on food quality, but LC doesn't have a hard liquor license, and the margaritas are remarkably good at the Shed. Plaza Cafe does a nice job too.

Outside the tourist vortex, I really, really like both Los Amigos on Rodeo Rd., and El Campanario on Cerrillos. Los Amigos does straight-ahead NM-style; El Campanario, while still very much the real deal, has a couple of less conventional offerings like smoked trout enchiladas in a very spicy green sauce. For a quick fix, Posa's is outstanding as well.

Agreed on the Shed/La Choza, although the liquor situation at La Choza may have changed recently, since we have enjoyed excellent margaritas on our last several visits. These are pretty much the only places I will orde red chile enchiladas.

The Plaza Cafe Southside does an excellent job with green chile breakfast enchiladas.

I was getting ready to be even more obnoxious than usual and cast aspersions on friend rcurtism's ability to tell real margaritas from agave-wine ones, when I thought, "You'd better check, Smartypants."

La Choza has confirmed that it does _indeed_ now have a full bar:

My apologies for ever having doubted you, rcurtism! ;-
