Giancarlo's in Morro Bay--any feedback?
Interested in what chowhounds might have to say about this newish Morro BAy restaurant.. The food sounds great but there also seem to be problems with the dining experience, according to other forums.
Have any Chowhounds tales to tell about Giancarlo's? Dish, please.

re: PolarBear
Next to the police station at the top of Morro Bay Blvd, about a block past the traffic circle near the junction with 1. Can't think of what business used to be there--but don't think it was a restaurant.
Most of the restaurants are down near the bay (the tourist magnet in MB) but this one sits alone in a mixed commerical neighborhood on the main entrance to the downtown business district. Giancarlo's has two Italian chefs, and features a large open dining/kitchen area.
The reason I'm asking here is that since it hasn't been mentioned here, and it gets some local press, I checked yelp and other forums which mostly talk about great food but also an uneven management of the front of the house: ear-ringing decibel levels, server inattention, long wait times for courses. It's supposedly packed no matter what night of the week; wondered how a place like this could be flying under the chowhound radar.
That is all...

re: toodie jane
It is loud, the service is sometimes spotty (depending on your waiter), it has always been crowded when we have visited (5 times), but the food is top flight. The specials are numerous with an emphasis on local seafood. The pasta is al dente. The folks in front make an effort to learn your name. Moderately priced for the area. Good wine list. I recommend it.
