dinner for large party

I am looking for a restaurant to host a holiday dinner for 16 people. I have called around to several places in the area and have been turned away due to the size of the party. Any suggestions in Bergen/Essex county for a sophisticated restaurant, BYO preferred..

Not being snarky, but it would help to know what you mean by sophisticated...food AND decor? Do you want a 'scene' or a private room? Do you want everyone at one table, or could you split into a few?
Knowing some of that might help us offer some suggestions...

Great food and decor is what I am looking for...this is holiday party for my cooking club. I have already been turned down by the Saddle River Inn, The Village Green and by Care Matisse for being too large of a group. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well, my favorite spot is Blu in Montclair, but I have to admit that it might not be good for a group this size, as their largest tables are for 6 and it's not a room that can be reconfigured. That said, the food is fantastic and it's BYO. I believe the tasting menu is all of $65pp and I promise you won't be disappointed in the meal!

Other than that...Fascino (also in Montclair, also BYO)? Stamna Taverna in Bloomfield (on the Montclair border) is NOT upscale (it's a Taverna!) but they have wonderful, authentic Greek food, it's BYO, and the vibe is always fun.

Gianna's in Carlstadt has hosted a party for me that was about that size, they are not BYOB though.
Biagio in Paramus is another option.
